Job Summary Under general supervision, installs, maintains, tests, and repairs City of Bryan refrigeration and HVAC systems and monitors and repairs building management and building access control systems.
Essential Job Functions - Services, installs, and repairs HVAC and refrigeration systems (coolers, ice machines, mini-splits, etc.) using technical skills, mechanical proficiency, and knowledge of HVAC systems; inspects work to verify quality and safety compliance standards.
- Reviews work orders, identifies material and equipment needs for each assigned projects, defines and troubleshoots maintenance and repair issues, and resolves problems with cost-effective solutions.
- Inspects, tests, calibrates, installs, and repairs HVAC systems, components, controls, and devices; performs maintenance and preventive maintenance; verifies maintenance and repair issues are properly identified, addressed, and resolved.
- Examines HVAC system failures and equipment malfunctions; determines cause and makes repairs.
- Maintains documentation/records of services performed and equipment installed as required.
- Assists other staff as needed with general facility maintenance work.
- Adheres to after-hours, weekend, and holiday standby requirements as needed.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work.
Minimum Qualifications - High School Diploma or GED .
- Must possess at least eight (8) years of work experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems.
Equivalent combinations of education, experience, certification, and training may be considered.
Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements - Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record as measured by the City’s evaluation system.
- EPA Universal Technician Certification or the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
- Must be available for after-hour calls as needed.
