Job Description

Job Summary
Under direction from Airport Manager and Lead Airport Operations Specialist, this position has hands-on responsibility for all airport operations, including high-quality customer relations, fueling and handling aircraft, maintaining the fuel farm, and facility/property maintenance.
Essential Job Functions
  • Assists in providing for the delivery of high quality customer service; communicates with general public, hangar tenants, day visitors and others in order to facilitate daily operations and maintenance of airport grounds and buildings and to ensure a positive experience while at the airport.
  • Performs various custodial functions to ensure safe, clean, and orderly grounds and buildings; cleans restrooms and performs minor plumbing repairs.
  • Performs general maintenance for hangars and terminal building and grounds maintenance such as mowing and other landscaping duties as assigned.
  • Assists with greeting, guiding, towing, parking, and securing aircraft arriving and departing.
  • Visually inspects runways and performs airfield lighting and safety checks. Logs problems and corrective actions taken. Inspects grounds and facilities daily for deficiencies and safety hazards and ensures repairs are conducted.
  • Operates a fuel truck to fuel various aircraft.
  • Preforms fuel farm maintenance to include taking fuel tank level measurements, testing fuel, cycling fuel tanks, checking fuel filters, ordering and receiving fuel, and completing monthly reporting and all required inspections.
  • Conducts routine and special inspections as required by regulations.
  • Follows various checklists to ensure tasks are completed and safety standards are met.
  • Ensures airport is maintained in accordance with FDOT / FAA standards and emergency procedures.
  • Arrives to work on time and maintains a regular and reliable level of attendance.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED .
  • At least one (1) year of experience in building/grounds maintenance, airport operations, or a similar field. Additional education or training is a plus.

Equivalent combinations of related education, experience, certification, and training may be considered.

Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements
Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record as measured by the City’s evaluation system.
