Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager (SSM) I, the Program Technician (PT) III analyzes and interprets criminal history documents and resolves all complex errors or omissions prior to submission for entry into the Automated Criminal History System (ACHS). The PT III must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice process. They must be proficient in the statutory code sections, various disposition terminology, and various DOJ automated systems. The PT III will request missing arrest and court disposition information to comply with legal requirements for firearms licensing, certification, or employment purposes. They will provide priority handling of arrest and disposition information needed to comply with legal requirements, review documents to determine their validity, identify any additional problems, and employ the most efficient method of resolution. Further duties include interpreting manual and automated criminal history records and related source documents, corresponding with criminal justice agencies by mail, telephone, and fax, and providing training to new and current employees. The PT III must have excellent communication and organizational skills, work well under stress, and be able to adjust to changing priorities. They must be highly motivated, flexible, able to resolve issues with minimal guidance, and follow oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures.
