Resource Specialist (Power Scheduling)

The Resource Specialist (Power Scheduling) is that of an experienced professional capable of taking on responsibilities within specific power market operations areas such as: Power Scheduling, Resource Adequacy, CAISO Market Participation, Power Risk Management, and Metropolitan’s Power Settlement and Accounting Processes. The specialist will engage in power procurement activities related to Metropolitan’s hydroelectric power plants, federal hydropower entitlements, and CRA pumping operations. The role is data and analytics intensive and requires experience in data management, building analytical models, and summarizing the results of those models. The position requires coordination with state, regional, and federal regulatory bodies such as the CEC, CARB, CAISO, WECC, and FERC to understand their stakeholder procedures and policies.

Schedule: 44/36 Monday through Friday with every other Friday off

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience; OR two years in an MWD Associate Resource Specialist classification; OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience.

Bachelor’s degree is defined as: A four-year degree in Business Management, Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science, Economics, or any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field or related.

Relevant Experience is defined as: Any combination of the following experience: Power or Natural Gas Trading or Scheduling; Power Settlements, Energy Risk Management, working with regulatory agencies (CAISO, CARB, WECC, CPUC, CEC); Administrative or Accounting functions (A/P, A/R, Processing Invoices for Payment, etc.), Analytics using Excel.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
