The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Construction Project Manager. The position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm with the potential of considering a flex schedule upon completion of a 6-month probationary period.

Who we are
The Capital Improvements Division of the Public Works & Utilities Department is one of six American Public Works Association (APWA) Accredited agencies in the State and one of a few ADOT Certified Agencies for the administration of design and construction for State and Federally grant funded transportation projects. This division is responsible for the management and coordination of the orderly design and construction of the City's capital infrastructure in the Capital Improvement Program, including procurement of professional services, design, construction and construction management for transportation, utilities, public buildings, community services and other general government improvements.

Who we are looking for
Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone to perform the full range of construction planning, construction project management, construction related contract administration for various city capital projects as assigned such as water/waste water improvements, roadway improvements, parks and recreation, building/facilities, housing, etc.

The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for performing site visits and supervising/managing field inspections of projects under construction; identifying areas in need of attention.

Minimum qualifications
• A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Landscape, Architecture, Park Administration or a related field, and
• 4 years of experience in construction management or architectural, mechanical, and electrical engineering design, and
• A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record, or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications
• Knowledge of standard construction documentation, including contract documents, RFIs, submittals, pay applications and schedule of values, change orders, and documentation flow and controls.
• Ability to ascertain and disseminate the buildability of a project, problem -solving costs, and risk in design.
• Aptitude to prepare and present construction status/progress to varying groups, IE; Stake holders, Clients, management, colleagues, etc.
This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
• Familiarity and working knowledge of project management software, estimating, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
