Job Description and Duties

Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager II, the incumbent independently plans, organizes, controls, and directs all operational services that are associated with the Firearms Modernization Section, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The incumbent is responsible for the management and control of a variety of electronic data analysis, reporting, and processing services which are provided to clients throughout the Department of Justice to assist them in meeting their program objectives. The ITM I is a highly skilled technology manager with experience directing legislative analysis, knowledge of strategic and tactical planning; knowledge of federal and State IT policies; knowledge of cost benefit analysis; ability to plan and oversee subordinate supervisors; and to prioritize and implement the department’s strategic IT plan. The ITM I assist with the bureau’s overall management, budget and organizational components. The services provided include the analysis of user needs, system design, development of system and program specifications, software tool selection, software development and maintenance, testing, problem resolution, development of user guides, monitoring the performance of operational systems, and user consulting.

Working Conditions

  • This position is eligible for telework up to 5 days a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. A teleworker is considered Remote-centered if they work fifty percent or more of their time from an alternate work location. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
  • This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.
