What You'll Be Doing

Join #TeamWake as a Public Health Nurse - RN!

The Women's Clinic Nurse provides medical care to consumers seeking Women's Health Services.

This position will provide the following to a diverse, multilingual patient population:
  • Family planning education
  • Advocate planned pregnancies
  • Promote health prevention and maintenance
  • Conduct patient interviews
  • Triage patients
  • Counseling and teaching related to pre-conception and contraception and other women’s health issues
  • Administer vaccinations
  • Assist with simple surgical procedures
  • Make patient referrals to intradepartmental and community resources such as: Prenatal Clinic, WIC, Medicaid and Community providers
  • Provide lab result follow-up- precept and supervise nurse aids and students
  • Advise clients over the phone and serve as charge nurse on a rotating basis

In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing
  • No specific experience required
  • Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse as issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
  • Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Basic CPR
  • Experience in Public Health, Family Planning, Autoclave and Infection control, GE Centricity Electronic Health Record system, Conducting fit testing
  • Spanish Language skills preferred

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:15a-5:15p w/ an expectation to work one even clinic per week until 7:15p to make 40hrs

Hiring Range: 28.35-48.20

Market Range: 28.35 - 48.20
