What You'll Be Doing

Are you a library professional who is passionate about serving the adults in your community?

WCPL is hiring an Adult Services Librarian for its Northeast Regional Library to focus on new adults to seniors. You will work in a regional library with a team of librarians and library assistants dedicated to offering quality service and dynamic programming to the community. Beyond developing programs and offering one-on-one services, Librarians provide reference, readers’ advisory and circulation assistance. Librarians are offered the opportunity to collaborate with managers and peers; and participate in system initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Planning, promoting, and presenting programs and services for new adults through seniors
  • Working on a public service desk providing reference, readers' advisory and general circulation assistance
  • Maintaining and merchandising assigned areas of the collection
  • Taking a lead with Library Assistants assigned to assist with the delivery of programs

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Master's degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program
  • No specific experience required
  • Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted
  • Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume.


Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Coursework in adult services
  • One year of professional librarian experience
  • Fluency in Spanish

Hiring Range: 21.33 - 36.27
