Under the administrative direction of the City Manager, the Finance Director manages all activities and operations of the Finance Department. The City of Moorpark is seeking a knowledgeable, service-oriented, team player to serve as the next Finance Director. The incoming director must be a subject matter expert in all things finance, including accounting and investments; and be able to provide administrative and professional leadership and direction. The incumbent must have the ability to oversee and direct the Finance Department and manage a variety of financial and internal service programs and activities. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who actively seeks to solve problems and make positive contributions to the organization through collaboration, teamwork, and open communication. The ideal candidate possesses strong verbal and written communication skills and takes an active, hands-on approach to management. Outstanding organizational and mentorship skills with a focus on establishing and maintaining relationships are essential to success in this role.
Candidates should have expertise in effective public relations, leadership, motivation, team building, conflict resolution, supervision, training, and performance evaluation. Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in accounting, finance, public administration, business administration, or a related field along with seven (7) years of increasingly responsible finance and accounting experience that includes the management and investment of funds, including four (4) years in administrative and supervisory responsibility. Financial management and investment experience in a governmental agency is preferred but not required; a Master’s degree is highly desirable. Candidates must have possession of a valid California Class C driver's license.
The annual salary range for the Finance Director is $148,033.60 - $199,056.00; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
