Job Description

Several full-time positions available with the Health Department, Communicable Disease Prevention, Adult Immunizations, Tuberculosis Clinic, and Sexual Health Clinic located at 2400 Troost
Salary Range: $28.96-$44.16/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Sexual Health Clinic: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

Adult Immunizations:
  • Provides vaccinations in the Fee For Service, Immigration, and Adult Travel Clinics.
  • Exercises good judgment and initiative.
  • Provides excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal and excellent customer service skills.
  • Assists nurses during community outreach clinics.


Tuberculosis Clinic:
  • Performs as Public Health Nurse working primarily in the Tuberculosis Clinic.
  • Provides nursing care and case management of patients with latent tuberculosis infection and active TB disease.
  • Works in concert with Disease Investigative Specialist to provide appropriate assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation and documentation of case management activities.
  • The Public Health Nurse who will fill the Tuberculosis Clinic position should also possess the willingness to work in the following areas: Immunization, and Sexual Health clinics, as training in these areas may be a requirement.

Sexual Health Clinic:
  • Provides patient care that is directed towards the goals of risk assessment, risk reduction, and optimal sexual health status for individuals, families and communities with the Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic.
  • Works with Disease Intervention Specialists to facilitate and navigate patient referrals.
  • Provides patient education and care in a manner that affirms all.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with individuals in other department programs, state and local agencies and the community.



Qualifications

REQUIRES licensure as a registered nurse as determined by the Missouri State Board of Nursing or a state having reciprocity with the state of Missouri. Possession of a current license or temporary permit (for transfer from other states). Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference given for bilingual.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
