Full-time position available with the Public Works Department, Traffic Signals Division located at 5310 Municipal Ave
Salary Range: $26.10-$39.82/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, repairs, and maintains electrical Traffic Signals devices, fixtures, and replaces electrical equipment as needed.
  • Troubleshoots electrical shorts and possible open circuitry.
  • Installs new traffic signal equipment as needed.
  • Programs and repairs traffic signal equipment.
  • Repairs detection systems on traffic signal loops, radar, and video systems.
  • Operates basic machine tools in the fabrication, maintenance or repair of metal parts, tools and equipment. Will be required to operate Bobcat, Forklift, Lift Truck, Digger Derrick truck and other equipment as needed.
  • Performs maintenance and repair duties on specialized Traffic Signal lighting and power systems.
  • Assists Electrical Maintenance Supervisors, Senior Electronic Technicians, as necessary.
  • Will be exposed to circuits from 12 Vdc to 240 Vac. Records work performed.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Participates in snow removal operations.
  • Must be able work at heights of up to 60 feet from a bucket lift or platform truck.
  • There are times when afterhours emergency is required as well as scheduled overtime.
  • Work is performed under varying weather conditions at all hours of the day and night.
  • The successful candidate will receive training in the Traffic Signal field which may help progression.



Qualifications

REQUIRES high school graduation and 3 years of progressively responsible experience performing routine and moderately complex electrical maintenance and repair work;OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies.May be required to possess a valid MO Class A, B, or C CDL prior to the end of the probationary period as determined by the department. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
