Tacoma Water is creating an eligible list for Water Service Supervisor.

Water Service Supervisors oversee, direct, assign work, train and evaluate the work of crews installing and maintaining Tacoma Water's distribution system. Duties include training employees in the proper use of equipment, materials and procedures; scheduling assignments, coordinating activities of work crews; assigning work crews and equipment to specific projects; planning for crews such as locates, shutdowns and permits. In addition, supervisors review and approve timecards; complete personnel evaluations in a timely manner; draft and issue discipline, respond to grievances, communicate issues, concerns and recommendations both with management and staff. Supervisors also plan, schedule, and coordinate the work of assigned staff.

Qualifications

Three years of experience overseeing and directing the work of personnel involved in the construction, maintenance, and repair of a water distribution system

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Washington Driver's License at time of application with maintenance thereafter

Valid First Aid Certificate issued by the American Red Cross and valid CPR certificate by completion of probation

Completion of the Tacoma Water Apprenticeship Program or Washington State Water Distribution Manager I certification

Transportation Worker's Identification Credential (TWIC) by the end of the probationary period

Appointment is subject to passing a background check, and a pre-employment medical exam and drug screen. This position is covered by a Labor Agreement between the City of Tacoma and IBEW Local 483. New employees must successfully complete a nine-month probationary period prior to obtaining permanent status in this classification.

Other Employment Information

Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.

Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
