What You'll Be Doing

Health and Human Services is looking for a School Health Dental Hygienist to join #TeamWake!

The School Health Dental Hygienist position promotes and enhances the oral health of Wake County Public School (WCPSS) students by providing dental services (screening and education) through consultation and collaboration with school staff, families, and other community resources.

Ways the School Health Dental Hygienist will make an impact are:
  • Collaborating with WCPSS student population and community outreach partners and programs regarding oral health promotion, prevention, and access to care
  • Involved with providing guidance to dental students, dental assisting students and dental hygiene students
  • This position will directly report to the School Health Nursing Supervisor for School Nurse Specialists and Dental Hygienist team

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene
  • Two years of dental hygienist experience
  • Licensed to practice as Dental Hygienist by the NC State Board of Dental Examiners
  • CPR
  • Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted


Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • 1 year providing dental care in a public health or mostly pediatric population setting
  • Spanish Languages skills preferred but not required
  • Current CPR certification
