SUMMARY
Under direct supervision by the MPAC Facility Operations Supervisor, the purpose of this position is to perform custodian and manual work in the care and cleaning of McKinney Performing Arts Center. This includes: performing deep cleaning projects (i.e. dusting and polishing furniture), inspecting cleanliness of buildings, cleaning the restrooms and break rooms, removing trash, performing periodic floor detailing, handling daily meeting set ups and take downs, performing periodic maintenance tasks (i.e. changing filters or light bulbs), cleaning rooftops and gutters and performing other related work as required.

Essential Functions/Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drives to and from assigned work locations as assigned.
  • Performs deep cleaning projects as needed: Dust & polish chairs, desks, tables, shelves and other furniture, dust & clean return air grills & registers, light fixtures, etc.
  • Inspects cleaning of MPAC and fills out cleaning inspection sheets.
  • Stocks janitors' closets; monitors stock usage & inventories stock.
  • Performs midday cleaning & trash removal (break rooms & restrooms).
  • Performs periodic floor detailing and strip & wax floors.
  • Handles daily meeting set ups and take downs.
  • Periodically cleans rooftops and gutters.
  • Performs periodic maintenance tasks (i.e. changing ac filters, changing light bulbs, replacing batteries in flush valves, etc.)
  • Comply with all written City policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in City and department attendance policies and procedures.
  • Performs related work as required.

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Six months (6) of related experience (i.e. janitorial) required. Must have the ability to read, understand and follow written directions as well as to follow oral directions. Must have the ability to pass a post-offer physical examination. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.

Physical Demands/Supplemental

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds). Some tasks require visual and odor perception and discrimination.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

There is limited exposure to environmental conditions. Task may require exposure to strong odors and/or smoke, traffic hazards, extreme heat/cold or extreme weather conditions.
