PSYCHOLOGIST

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center's South Campus has an immediate opening for a licensed or a license-eligible Psychologist. The South Campus is located at 5300 Arsenal Street, St. Louis, MO 63139 and is a 180-bed inpatient forensic hospital serving individuals committed to the Department of Mental Health.

What you'll do: This is a treatment psychologist position in the Forensic Responsibility Program, which strives to prepare clients for release and for safe, satisfying, and meaningful participation in the community. Clients present with serious psychiatric illnesses and personality pathology which are addressed using theoretical frameworks focused on risk reduction and life enhancement. Program interventions include, but are not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral and Motivational Interviewing interventions tailored to each client's unique needs and assessed level of risk. Program specific training is provided. The psychologist in this position is an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment team, responsible for coordinating and managing the assessment and treatment of psychiatric illnesses.

Duties Include:
  • Develop and implement individual treatment plans
  • Conduct individual therapy and lead treatment groups
  • Conduct psychological assessments as needed and complete necessary treatment documentation
  • Opportunities to supervise practicum students and psychology interns
  • Participate in hospital wide committees and other leadership opportunities available within the hospital
All you will need for success:

Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Psychology

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensure as a Psychologist, or license eligibility in Missouri.
  • If not licensed at time of hire, must attain license within 12 months.
  • Experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy interventions.
