Job Description

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South Campus (FTC-S), a Missouri Department of Mental Health forensic inpatient facility, has a position for a Missouri licensed or license-eligible psychologist. The position is currently open with start date negotiable.

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South Campus is a 180-bed inpatient forensic psychiatric hospital serving adults committed to the Department of Mental Health. This is a position in the New Outlook Program, which strives to prepare clients to live meaningful lives through skillful delivery of evidence-based and individualized treatment strategies The facility is seeking a person for whom inpatient treatment and working within a team setting is a passion.

Clients present with a wide range of diagnoses and clinical presentations, including serious mental illnesses, personality disorders, cognitive deficits, and suicidal and self-injurious behaviors. Treatment modalities may include, but are not limited to, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Behavior Modification. Program specific training is provided, including DBT Intensive Certification Training. The psychologist in this position will serve on both the interdisciplinary treatment team and the DBT consultation team. Treatment will involve DBT Skills Training groups, individual DBT sessions, and DBT skills coaching, among other problem, or diagnosis specific, treatment interventions. Successful candidates are skilled in the creation and implementation of behavioral intervention plans. In addition to providing individual and group therapy, treatment planning, and psychological assessment as needed, there will be opportunities to learn the administration and interpretation of a variety of risk assessments.

All psychologists serve the entire facility through leadership of and participation in facility committees and special projects in meeting Joint Commission accreditation standards. The psychologist will also have the opportunity to function as a supervisor for the St. Louis Psychology Internship Consortium (SLPIC) and to provide didactics in individual areas of specialty.

Duties include :
  • Conduct individual therapy and lead treatment groups
  • Develop and implement individual treatment plans and behavior intervention plans
  • Conduct psychological assessments as needed
  • Complete necessary treatment documentation.
  • Opportunities to supervise practicum students, psychology interns, and postdoctoral residents
  • Participate in hospital wide committees and other leadership opportunities available within the hospital.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Psychology
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensure as a Psychologist, or license eligibility in Missouri.
  • If not licensed at time of hire, must attain license within 12 months.
