NATURE OF WORK:

Performs professional and administrative work for the Transportation Department by providing innovative services to ensure our transportation system is both efficient and safe. The city is investing significantly in the local transportation system to ensure those that live, work or visit Orlando can travel where they want, when they want and how they want. Recognizing a highly functioning regional transportation system is key to ensure future mobility for the City of Orlando and Central Florida region.

Orlando’s Transportation Policy Advisor plays a key role in developing the long-term policy framework and leading the advocacy efforts for regional positioning and achievement of the City's transportation vision.
The Transportation Policy Advisor reports to the Transportation Director and generates and accelerates policy within the City of Orlando. This includes policy analysis and support for regional transportation decision-making concerning transportation investments, transportation system development, transportation funding, and related facets to move the City of Orlando’s transportation department forward.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration or related field required, plus seven (7) years of professional experience in public policy formulation, transportation policy and initiatives, legislative and government relations work in local, state and federal policy required. Valid Florida Driver's License required.

VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
