Nature of Work:

Performs supervisory functions with limited administrative support of a specialized nature enforcing applicable City Codes (City Code Chapter 28, Solid Waste) and/or regulations associated with the collection and transportation of municipal solid waste. Employees assigned to this classification dispatch routes, audit fleet assets to ensure vehicle readiness, and supervise field activities of several crews that operate multiple types of refuse trucks that are geographically removed from the Division and have extensive contact with the general public, business/property owners and other government officials. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through direct observation, meetings, and review of work orders to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with City policy. Work is often performed outdoors and employee is subject to varied weather conditions. This position is responsible for training employees to successfully operate multiple types of refuse collection trucks.

Minimum Requirements

High school graduate and two years experience in the enforcement of City Codes; or an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience. Two years experience in the safe operation of heavy refuse collection trucks or successful completion of a Solid Waste Safe Driver course approved by the SWMD required. Valid Florida CDL Class B required.

VALID COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE (CDL) CLASS B OR HIGHER (OR EQUIVALENT) FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. FLORIDA CDL CLASS B OR HIGHER MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
