The City of Prineville is seeking a Police Chief for this resurgent rural community of 11,513 in Oregon’s high desert 20 miles northeast of Bend. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Citizen safety is foundational to the Prineville community. The Prineville Police Department trains, embraces, and practices procedural justice and has earned and maintained accreditation status through the Oregon Accreditation Alliance since 2016. The Department operates with a biennial 2024-2025 budget of $15,397,550 and 25 budgeted FTEs across a service area of 12.83 square miles. Calls for services in 2023 were 22,444. Crook County 911 is a division of the Prineville Police Department with a staffing of 13.3 FTEs and 55,426 total calls in 2023.
