ABOUT THE POSITION

The Marin County Fire Department is seeking multiple full-time regular hire Fire Dispatchers. The regular work schedule is known as a two by four. Employees will be assigned to one of three shifts that work a two day on and four day off work schedule, working a 48-hour shift followed by 96 hours off (this is an average of 10 workdays per month).

*The approximate annual salary range (including built in overtime) for Fire Dispatcher is $103,900 - $126,031 depending on qualifications.

SIGNING BONUS:
New, full-time, regular hire Fire Dispatchers are eligible to receive a $7,500 signing bonus which will be split into two equal payments - 50% at time of hire (i.e. first paycheck) and the remaining 50% at successful completion of their probationary period.

This amount is prorated for regular hire part-time employees based on the employee’s FTE. If the new hire separates prior to the completion of their probationary period, they will be required to reimburse the County for the amount of the signing bonus received.

Minimum Qualifications
Equivalent to graduation from high school AND equivalent to one year as a Dispatcher Trainee OR one year of experience as a dispatcher in a public safety agency or similar emergency service organization.

Certificates and Licenses
Possession of and/or ability to obtain an Emergency Medical Dispatch Certificate within six (6) months of assignment.

Failure to obtain and/or maintain the Emergency Medical Dispatch Certificate, as appropriate to assignment, during employment will result in the termination of employment.

Disaster Service Workers: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
