The Training Ship Golden Bear (TSGB) summer cruises serve as a seagoing training and educational experience for the students at Cal Maritime and several other maritime academies as part of their preparation for entering maritime related careers. About the California State University Maritime Academy: Established in 1929, California State University Maritime Academy, a campus of the California State University, is the only degree-granting maritime academy on the West Coast. Located on the scenic Vallejo waterfront, the campus serves a student population of approximately 1000 undergraduates and 50 graduate students. Cal Maritime offers seven baccalaureate degrees in Business Administration, International Strategy and Security, Facilities Engineering Technology, Marine Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Transportation, and Oceanography. The undergraduate curriculum includes licensing programs for future merchant marine, coast guard, and naval reserve officers. Cal Maritime also offers a Master of Science in Transportation and Engineering Management degree, as well as a number of extended learning programs and courses. Major Responsibilities : The sick bay team typically consists of a physician, an FNP or PA, and a counselor. Having previous ER or urgent care experience and an enjoyment of life at sea are both beneficial. Duties for the position include a scheduled workday of approx. 8am-5pm, and occasional after hours care for treatment of injuries or illness. The physician and NP/PA staff the sick bay and provide basic medical care for a crew of approximately 350 students, staff, and faculty. Other duties include routine student physicals. There are opportunities for health education programming. A private stateroom and meals are provided. Airfare to and from the departure and arrival ports is provided as needed. As this is a training ship for maritime academy students, lodging is available for the medical staff only. Job Summary: Under the general direction of a medical provider and the Executive Director, the Registered Nurse III (RN III) is responsible for the development and implementation of nursing standards, policies, and procedures for the Student Health Center (SHC), and oversees and directs the nursing services for one or more specialty areas for the SHC. Position Summary Under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse and the administrative supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the licensed vocational nurse serves as a member of the professional health care team to provide basic and augmented health services to students. The LVN will assist with the preparation and examination and/or treatment of patients by taking a brief medical history, monitoring and recording vital signs and pertinent symptoms and complaints, and accurately recording information in the patient's confidential medical record. TitanMED is the student health center at Cal State Fullerton (CSUF), a campus part of the California State University (CSU) system. CSUF is seeking a passionate and skilled health care professional to work as a Physician in TitanMED, the clinical services arm of TitanHEALTH. We are seeking a candidate who will communicate and interact successfully with University students as well as coordinate and integrate care with other team members in TitanMED, TitanWell (health promotion services), and TitanTHRIVE (confidential advocacy and community engagement). Reporting directly to the Chief Staff Physician, primary duties include - providing direct clinical care to the student community including examining patients; diagnosing illnesses and injuries; developing treatment plans, including prescribing and administering medical treatments and referring to other health care professionals as needed; performing emergency procedures as necessary; counseling and educating patients/students on related medical/personal problems and health measures; serving as physician consultant resource or preceptor to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, as well as supervising Medical Assistants, Laboratory and Nursing staff; and providing follow up on treatment to ensure the appropriate resolution of illness or injury. Other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications Graduation from a medical school recognized by the Medical Board of California. Completion of one or more residency programs in a specialty appropriate to the assigned duties with increasingly responsible experience in the practice of that specialty. Prior or current affiliation with a hospital or outpatient clinic is preferred. Thorough knowledge of the principles and methods of assigned medical specialty. Thorough knowledge of community resources in medical treatment and public health practices. General knowledge of the diagnosis of common medical disorders. General knowledge of county medical society, California Medical Association, and American Medical Association ethics and standards.
