Job Description

FACILITY EHR TRAINER This is a specialized professional training and development position accountable for implementation and training of facility staff on an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The position will work collaboratively with the Central Office EHR Training Coordinator, the Vendor, and DDD/DBH facility counterparts to develop and maintain a consistent training curriculum across the agency. Responsibilities:
• Ensure ongoing, up to date, personal knowledge of the functionality of the Department of Mental Health (DMH) EHR system, including clinical and administrative workflows and configurations.
• Deliver training programs to new employees on general computer use and the specific use of the EHR as it pertains to their job roles.
• Conduct skills (computer/EHR) assessments, track/develop improvement plans as needed.
• Deliver ongoing training programs to current employees on general computer use and the specific use of the EHR, as needed, as it pertains to their job roles.
• Provide general use training to the consumer and/or their guardian, as needed, so they can access their personal EHR information through the EHR portal.
• Serve as the facility lead for EHR support and user questions.
• Assist with development, planning, and scheduling of facility EHR training.
• Maintains training materials and equipment.
• Provide leadership and direction to EHR users within the facility.
• Conduct one-on-one or group training sessions with users as needed.
• Ability to develop a flexible schedule to train staff on all shifts, as necessary.
• Assist the EHR Training Coordinator and EHR Vendor in the development and production of audio-visual training aids.
• Support new initiatives related to the EHR and quality outcomes at the facility.
• Conduct observations of users in their environment to identify areas for improvement and actively participate in a resolution.
• Develop, execute, and support training curriculum, tools, video recordings and resources focused on the EHR, quality initiatives, working closely with facility leadership, the EHR Training Coordinator, and EHR Vendor.
• Work with DMH-wide EHR leadership team, particularly the DMH EHR Training Coordinator; collaborate with that team on an ongoing basis.
• Attend DMH EHR instructor trainings and maintain skills as updates are issued. Assist with testing new and/or updated workflows, configurations and specific templates.
• Identify gaps/areas of opportunity within both the technical EHR functionality and the user aspects, and using initiative to develop action plans to address areas of concern.
• Prepare reports as required.
• Maintain confidentiality and all patient, department, and organization information, and follows HIPAA regulations.
• Perform other general training duties/work as necessary, which can include: * Develop professional learning community/continuing education offerings from in-house talent and outside presenters (i.e., lunch and learns; management/supervisory training)
* Participate in video review process as a member of the SMART video review team for facility incidents
* Act as a liaison and consultant for university/college clinical instructors Knowledge, skills & abilities:
In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Knowledge of media used to deliver training. Skills in training instruction and presentation. Skills in coaching initiatives for individuals and groups in classroom setting. Ability to stay abreast of training needs. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
• It is highly desirable to have a previous work background in an EHR implementation and/or support
• Exceptional computer skills, particularly in all Microsoft Office software
• Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented, self-motivated and organized
• Ability to prioritize workload
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross division multi-functional team
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Interpersonal skills
• Experience with an electronic learning management system preferred
• Ability to develop a flexible schedule to train staff on all shifts, as necessary. Eligibility:
1. No discipline within the last 12 months for internal employees.
2. Bachelor's degree in safety, public health, environmental health, occupational safety, healthcare field or other related field.
3. Two (2) years' experience related to workplace safety, environmental science, regulatory compliance, healthcare life safety, or healthcare environment of care.
4. Two (2) years in healthcare administration/healthcare policy interpretation.
