Job Location: This position will be located at 2710 West Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109. Position hours are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Performing quality control checks and calibrations on ambient air monitoring instruments throughout the state to assure accuracy of the ambient air quality data being reported to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This work typically requires overnight stays and/or extended work days.
  • Perform task outdoors during adverse weather conditions, walk over rough terrain, and ability to lift 80 pounds of equipment.
  • Perform task 5-30 feet above ground and ability to climb vertical ladders.
  • Investigating, analyzing chemical analysis, and researching issues related to air pollution data collection and reporting.
  • Maintaining complete and accurate electronic documentation.
  • Reviewing, validating, and coding electronic data for submittal to EPA's database.
  • Performing verifications on calibration equipment in the lab as needed.
  • Interpreting ambient air monitoring data from instruments throughout the state.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical ambient air quality monitoring equipment in the lab and the field
This position is required to obtain and maintain appropriate motor vehicle operator's license. If required and if you do not currently possess this license, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 earned credit hours in natural science (Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Physical Science, Geology, Engineering, Agronomy, Forestry, Soil Science, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Agriculture, Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, Atmospheric Science, or closely related field) or
  • 0-4 years of experience in environmental monitoring equipment usage and operation; data investigation, analysis, research, and statistical methods; or environmental inspections or investigations.
