Why you'll love this position: ITSD is seeking to add an Applications Developer to the ITSD-DSS Departmental Support Team which supports various mainframe-based applications for the Department of Social Services. This position will be responsible for maintenance and operations on existing systems, designing and developing new software solutions, and evaluating off-the-shelf software solutions for customers. The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-motivated person with great organizational and technical skills who can multitask in a fast-paced environment.
This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Department of Social Services (DSS).

- Maintenance and operations on existing applications supported by the team.
- This position will be responsible for requirements collection, designing developing, and supporting secure interfaces between systems, database design, code development, code review, and technical testing as well as creating and updating relevant documentation such as user manuals.
A minimum of an associate's degree related to Computer Information Systems.
A successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
- Knowledge related to developing and maintaining mainframe applications using DB2 for z/OS, CICS, COBOL, JCL.
- Working knowledge of Syncsort and Webaware preferred.
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines. Project management skills preferred.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently.
- Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate's name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
