Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Nursing Department Overview [ Department website ] As part of the College of Health and Human Services, the School of Nursing offers a Baccalaureate in Science, Nursing as well as a Master's in Science, Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice. This education prepares nurses to make clinical decisions based on theory and research. Position Summary [ Course Catalog link ] The successful applicant will teach Practicum courses in Nursing. ( See below the areas for course requirements ) The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses such as: Practicums in Medical/Surgical, Obstetric, or Pediatrics Nursing or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students Instructor Responsibility : Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306 , paragraph 2. Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. College: College of Education Position Title: Part-Time Temporary Lecturer in Clinical Fieldwork Supervisor Division of Curriculum and Instruction (EDCI) Instructional Faculty - Part-time Temporary/Lecturer Pool Position Details: The Curriculum and Instruction Department in the College of Education at Cal State LA, is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2024-2025 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester. Part-time faculty lecturers are hired with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Hires from the pool of applicants are made when there are instructional needs to fill coursework offered by an academic department based on changing enrollment patterns, changes to tenure-track faculty assignments, and other factors that cannot be addressed with existing faculty. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Often appointments are made just prior to the start of the semester so some faculty lecturers may need to be available on very short notice. Minimum Qualifications: Supervisors must have a minimum of five years of experience teaching in urban P-12 settings and must be qualified by either training, experience and the possession of a valid California clear multiple single or single subject teaching credential or equivalent and experience in the area to be supervised, or a graduate degree (master’s degree or higher) from an accredited university; National Board Certification and/or a valid Administrative Services credential or equivalent with experience supervising in the bilingual/dual language settings will also be considered; Supervisors must have experience in coaching and supervising students in fieldwork placements for Multiple and Single Subject credential programs; Supervisors must be able to observe student teachers during K-12 school hours; Supervisors must be able to use electronic observation forms and attend bi-annual training for fieldwork supervision; Supervisors must be able to maintain positive relationships with school administrators and, teachers, and teacher candidates. Supervisors must have a strong and demonstrated commitment to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion with the goal of improving teacher preparation and public education. Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment. Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. The salary schedule information for the faculty lecturer: Academic Year-month Classification is available based on the following ranges: ( per salary schedule 7/1/2022) Lecturer A/2 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 Lecturer B/3 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $5,405 - $11,994 Lecturer C/4 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $6,190 - $13,172 Lecturer D/5 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $7,794 - $13,797 The anticipated monthly hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Most new faculty lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
