Job Description

The Position

THIS IS AN UNCLASSIFIED, NON-CIVIL SERVICE, HOURLY POSITION WITH NO MEDICAL, DENTAL OR ACCRUED LEAVE BENEFITS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF AB1522 - HEALTHY WORKPLACE HEALTHY FAMILY ACT.

Under close and general supervision, this entry-level classification participates in most youth employment activities, aimed at developing leadership knowledge, skills and abilities.

Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensures Department services are provided with exceptional customer service and the highest level of ethical standards.

Performs hillside brush clearance, weed abatement, landscaping, debris clearance and other general labor tasks on private and public property.

May also perform general office work.

Uses a power and hand tools; hauling and dumping of debris; and maintenance of tools and equipment.

Works weekday, evening and weekend hours.

Performs hillside brush clearance, general labor tasks, and general office tasks.

Assumes responsibility for ensuring the duties of the position are performed in a safe efficient manner.

Performs other related duties as assigned or as the situation requires.

Safely use power and hand tools for landscaping.

Experience
No specific requirement.

Education/Training
Graduation from high school or attainment of GED or CHSPE certificate, or enrolled in High School.

License(s)/Certification(s)
If over 18, valid Class C California driver's license.

Special Conditions
If under 18, must be able to secure a valid work permit.

Selection Process

TIME AND PLACE OF THE EXAMINATION WILL BE ANNOUNCED. Any evaluation will be based on the candidate's education and experience as related to the position. Any examination will be to evaluate the candidate's education, experience, knowledge and skills for the position. The selected candidate will be subjected to a background check including Livescan fingerprinting. The City of Glendale reserves the right to modify the above stated examination components and/or weights. Should this be necessary, the candidates will be notified of the specific examination components and weights prior to the administration of any examination.
