The Position The City of Riverside's Community and Economic Development Department is accepting applications for a limited term Senior Planner to support the Planning Division. The Position The City of Riverside's Community and Economic Development Department is accepting applications for a limited term Senior Planner to support the Planning Division. This recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancy and establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. This position is in support of Phase II of the City's new Cannabis Program for Storefront Retail Commercial Cannabis Businesses. This includes the application final review process: verification of site locations for businesses, zoning verification clearance, site submittal and plan review, business plan, operational plan, safety and security plan review, and all final permit approvals needed to commence any site improvements to begin operations, and to secure a Certificate of Occupancy. *This is a limited-term, grant-funded position of approximately 18 months supported by the Cannabis Retail Access Grant. Inspects or supervises the inspection of capital projects and other building or alteration projects during and after construction to ensure compliance with department's needs; evaluates proposed changes and makes recommendations. Prepares and supervises the preparation of drawings, specifications, and estimates for building alterations and equipment installations which are to be carried out by County building craftsmen. Makes preliminary cost estimates for major construction projects and ascertains that projects are kept within budgetary limitations; approves change orders for additional work. Prepares or supervises the preparation of applications to agencies which may participate financially in building projects and provides those agencies with technical or such other information and periodic reports as may be required. Prepares or supervises the preparation of specifications for purchase of building equipment and evaluates bids received. Expedites and coordinates delivery and installation of building equipment and ascertains that deficiencies are corrected during the warranty period. Coordinates building and equipment maintenance, telephone moving, and miscellaneous related services incidental to primary responsibilities. Represent special fund agencies to negotiate and recommend contract architects' fees and architectural services agreements and related documents outlining scope of projects and budget, which are submitted for approval to the Board of Supervisors. Job Description and Duties How does Aviation Transportation and Sustainability intersect? Advancements in technology are bringing about a major change to the aviation transportation sector, including Advanced Air Mobility, electrification, and sustainable aviation fuels. These changes will create new impacts (positive and negative) to communities and the environment that should be studied and addressed at the State level. In addition, land use policies, aviation noise impacts, and environmental laws and regulations will continue to play a significant role in the planning and development of aviation transportation. Under the general direction of the Caltrans Aeronautics Division Chief (Program Director), and in collaboration with Division staff, the incumbent will administer California’s airport noise regulations and oversee the Division’s environmental reviews for projects at or around airports.
