Job Location: This position will be located at the Harry S Truman Building, 301 W High St., Jefferson City, MO 65101. Our internship with the Division of Facilities Management, Design and Construction's (FMDC) Project Design Unit (PDU) offers an opportunity to receive meaningful work experience in the design and construction fields. You will perform entry-level tasks while taking part in skills development activities and projects. The internship schedule is flexible at 20-40 hours per week. What you'll do: Assist PDU architects, designers, and CAD technicians in the planning, design, development, and construction phases of various state site and landscape plans Attend design, pre-bid, pre-construction, and construction progress meetings with PDU staff Assist in reviewing design plans and specifications to ensure design quality and prepare review comments Prepare site plans, specifications, and cost estimates Coordinate the arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures Prepare graphic representations of plans using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software Select appropriate landscaping materials Analyze environmental reports on land conditions, such as drainage and energy usage Inspect landscape project progress to ensure that it adheres to plans Develop familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients' visions for the future built environment All you need for success: Minimum Qualifications Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program or in a technical or vocational college, focusing on landscape architecture Proficiency in AutoCAD software The ability to interpret plans and specifications, and understand basic design concepts The ability to work as part of a team Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent administrative and organizational skills Effective communication skills Detail-oriented, creative, and ability to visualize space plans to meet customer's needs Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate's name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
