Educate clients in self-administration of daily tests, medications, and therapies per health care provider orders. Conduct inventory and maintain supplies. Maintain and enhance knowledge of public health concerns through attendance at workshops, meetings, specialty clinics, protocols, journals and classes. Participate in the operation of health clinics (i.e., interviewing patients, performing diagnostic tests, giving prescribed treatment; recording data; collects specimens for laboratory analysis; assists in the operation of special equipment; cleans and sterilizes medical supplies and equipment. CAREER DESCRIPTION PHYSICIAN II ( CORRECTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES) In addition to performance-based merit increases, this position is scheduled to receive salary range increases on the following dates: Effective June 28, 2024 - 4.25% increase Effective June 27, 2025 - 4.00% increase Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization. Premium Pay In addition to the hourly salary, eligible applicants may receive premium pay for the items listed below: Board Certification pay: Employees assigned on a regular, full-time basis in this classification, who are Board Certified, shall receive, in addition to his or her salary, the equivalent of $350 monthly Jail Supplement pay: An employee in this classification who is assigned to work in an adult or juvenile correctional or institutional facility shall receive an additional $1.50 per hour for all paid hours Other Additional Premium Pays This recruitment is open to the public for a minimum of five (5) business days and will remain open on a continuous basis until the needs of the County are met. Under the leadership of the Agency Director, a dynamic executive team with an organizational structure comprised of five (5) service areas - Strategy and Special Projects, Mental Health and Recovery Services, Correctional Health Services, Medical Health Services and Public Health Services - is committed to meeting the health needs of the diverse Orange County community. THE PROGRAM Adult Correctional Health Services (ACHS) provides medical, dental, nursing, infection control, health education and pharmaceutical services at a community standard of care to all adult inmates in the County's five correctional facilities and contracts with hospitals for inpatient and specialty care. THE OPPORTUNITY The Physician II will be the primary care provider to the most under-served patients in Orange County while working in a challenging environment. Physicians will provide all urgent and chronic care to the adult population of Orange County Jails, including women's health and prenatal care to obstetric (OB) patients. Physicians must be skilled at making good clinical judgments based on physical diagnosis and perform a wide range of office based, outpatient procedures such as: femoral venipunctures, skin biopsies, sutures, ingrown nail removals, incision and drainage, pap smears, colonoscopies, etc. Additionally, the Physician II will provide clinical supervision and oversight of four (4) Nurse Practitioners (NP). DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES The ideal candidate will have one (1) or more years of experience working in triage/urgent care, mental health, or correctional medicine type of setting. THE OPPORTUNITY The Physician II will be the primary care provider to the most under-served patients in Orange County while working in a challenging environment. Physicians will provide all urgent and chronic care to the adult population of Orange County Jails, including women's health and prenatal care to obstetric (OB) patients.
