Commercial Truck Driver Training (Paid Training) Our local CDL program consists of four weeks of classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training with an experienced and highly qualified instructor. We will assist you through the process each step of the way and you will get paid a $21.82* hourly wage while you train. Six Months On-the-Job (Paid Training) Once you graduate from the Driving Academy and with the appropriate class of license and any applicable endorsements, you will begin on-the job paid training during your 6-month introductory period. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Performs skilled level electrical work involving installation, inspection, maintenance, alteration and repairs of electronic traffic control signals and devices, pole-mounted outdoor lighting, associated mechanical equipment and solid-state traffic control devices in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade. Performs routine maintenance, painting of backplates, visors, signal heads, signal poles, light poles and mast arms. A Signal Systems Electrician performs skilled technical work and may act as a lead for and work with a signal construction or signal systems crew installing, repairing, maintaining, and modifying electric and microprocessor based traffic signal control devices and video and computer communications systems. Description The current vacancy is in the Sanitation Division of the Department of Public Works. The established list could be used for future openings in other Divisions. Under general supervision supervises and reviews the work of others in the care, maintenance, and repair of streets, parks, facilities, and equipment or the collection of residential, industrial and commercial waste and recycled materials. Supervises, plans, prioritizes, and assigns work to staff. Also, reviews performance and determines training needs for staff. Estimates time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisitions materials and supplies; maintains inventory and maintenance records. Supervises snow removal operations, leaf operations, flood control operations or any other public work operations as assigned by the Director of Public Works, or his or her designee. Participates in the training of staff; assumes responsibility for motivating and evaluating assigned personnel; verifies the work of assigned personnel for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards, specifications and laws; ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures; takes and recommends disciplinary action when required. Investigates accidents and instances of theft and vandalism, enforces all safety requirements, prepares reports and makes recommendations for changes in procedures. Responds to user inquiries orally and in writing in a courteous manner.
