Job Description and Duties Under the direction of the Chief of the Office of Federal Programs, a Supervising Transportation Engineer, the Senior Transportation Engineer is responsible for providing experienced, authoritative, and professional management of the Highway Bridge Program (HBP). The Senior Transportation Engineer works in a non-supervisory, specialist capacity providing engineering review, direction, and technical assistance in the application and development of law, regulations, policies, and procedures involved in developing projects for the repair, seismic retrofit, rehabilitation, or replacement of approximately 12,000 locally owned bridges. Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Working Conditions This position is located in Sacramento, Sacramento County. While at the base of operations, the employee will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting. Employee may also be required to travel to field sites, other office buildings and work outdoors and may be exposed to dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, traffic conditions and/or extreme heat or cold. This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Nature of Work: Performs highly responsible technical analysis and professional managerial work involving the Public Works Department. Job Summary Reporting to the Managing Director, Student Athlete Resource Center (SARC) and Associate Director of Athletics, the Associate Director for the Student Athlete Resource Center acts as the unit lead for learning support for student-athletes in need of proactive academic support, graduate student athlete support, and Summer Bridge programming with all incoming student-athletes. Job Summary Reporting to the Managing Director, Student Athlete Resource Center (SARC) and Associate Director of Athletics, the Associate Director for the Student Athlete Resource Center acts as the unit lead for learning support for student-athletes in need of proactive academic support, graduate student athlete support, and Summer Bridge programming with all incoming student-athletes. While adhering to NCAA guidelines and athletic academic eligibility requirements, the incumbent will lead the team to support all student-athletes in an effort to complete Title 5, California State University (CSU), San José State University (SJSU) with the end goal of degree completion. The County contributes $1,500 of the monthly premiums for the insurance plan options. VACATION ACCRUAL may be adjusted for current city or county government employees. VACATION - 80 hours per year during the first five years of service, 120 hours per year after five years, and additional accruals based on years of service beyond fifteen years. Pro-rated for part-time employees. SICK LEAVE - Accrues at a rate of 96 hours per year. Pro-rated for part-time employees. HOLIDAYS - An average of twelve paid 8-hour holidays per year. Pro-rated for part-time employees. SALARY - Lake County has an adopted salary schedule. The salary range for most classifications is in five increments with a provision for longevity increases. Appointments are normally made at the first step of the salary range. SOCIAL SECURITY - County employees participate in Social Security. CALIFORNIA STATE DISABILITY INSURANCE - SDI is available to some County employees. DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLANS and CREDIT UNION MEMBERSHIPS are available to County employees.
