Job Duties What You Will Be Doing: Understand, interpret, and apply grant and contract process, policy, and protocol for the Flood Control District’s Flood Reduction Grant, Cooperative Watershed Management, and Subregional Opportunity fund grant programs. Assist project managers in processing and routing grant and contract agreements and invoices, using King County’s Oracle software suite and WLRD’s Foundant grant management software. Support the River and Floodplain Mangement Section in general purchasing (ordering general office supplies and field equipment, training and license registrations) and invoicing (capital projects and maintenance related utilities and other services) needs, including expense and mileage reimbursements for employees, and process these transactions in the Oracle software system. Assist with equipment and asset tracking and inventory. Compose, prepare, draft, summarize, proofread and edit a variety of documents to ensure conformance with appropriate use of the English language, specialized terminology, and established King County procedures and standards. Perform complex word-processing tasks, including mail-merges, legal document production/preparation, maintenance and periodic updating of mailing lists and boilerplate documents. Route documents for electronic signature through Docusign and Adobe Acrobat. Utilize Microsoft’s Office 365 Cloud Suite (primarily Sharepoint and Teams) to organize active electronic records that may include facility maintenance records, capital project files, technical program files, contracts, budgets, grants, payroll, legal documents and/or other records, as well as to track administrative processes and requests. Positions in this class may also provide technical lead to professional staff performing in environmental health work or be assigned to develop and implement staff training programs or conducts specialized studies, investigations and makes recommendations as to findings, and complete reports. Introduction Under direct oversight from Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II or III, the W/WW Treatment Plant Apprentice performs a variety of skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the City's water or wastewater treatment plant equipment and processes. The Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Apprenticeship classification is intended as a two year training program within the Water Resources Department. Upon satisfactory completion of the two year program, the successful candidate will be fully qualified as a Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II, capable of assuming all duties and responsibilities associated with operation of the treatment works within the Water Resources Division. Please note: There are two positions available; one in Water Treatment and one in Wastewater Treatment. This position will be required to work various shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Introduction Under direct oversight from Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II or III, the W/WW Treatment Plant Apprentice performs a variety of skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the City's water or wastewater treatment plant equipment and processes. The Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Apprenticeship classification is intended as a two year training program within the Water Resources Department. Upon satisfactory completion of the two year program, the successful candidate will be fully qualified as a Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II, capable of assuming all duties and responsibilities associated with operation of the treatment works within the Water Resources Division. Please note: There are two positions available; one in Water Treatment and one in Wastewater Treatment. This position will be required to work various shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Starting salary is $20.18/hour Incremental increases based on strict performance goals outlined within the Apprenticeship program: Approximately 6 months from hire date increase to $20.90/hour Approximately 12 months from hire date increase to $21.94/hour Approximately 18 months from hire date increase to $23.90/hour Those who meet the minimum qualifications for this position may be invited to an Information Session. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona. Essential Functions Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area within a Division which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following: Maintains and operates plant equipment and processes related to water or wastewater treatment systems on an assigned shift. Prioritizes activities between the different treatment processes and systems, including the operation of valves, gates, pumps and machinery manually, locally in automatic mode or remote via computerized control strategy. Samples and analyzes influents/effluents, source water/product water, feed water and permeate to detect quality variations, interpret laboratory results, reading sheets, process tests, computerized data and information trends to identify variations in flow and water quality and make appropriate changes. Oversees operation of an assigned treatment facility to maintain day to day operation necessary to meet all required Local, State and Federal regulations pertaining to the production of reuse, ground injection or potable water and comply with prescribed operating and safety standards. Uses a variety of standard testing procedures to determine problems and any adjustments needed in the treatment process. Conducts tours of facilities; responds to plant emergencies; and maintains a safe, clean and orderly work environment. Performs and assists maintenance staff and basic facility maintenance of assigned facility as directed. Drives a city vehicle between the different treatment facilities and systems to operate and maintain plant equipment and processes, including the operation of valves, gates, pumps, and machinery manually, locally in automatic mode as well as remote via computerized control strategy.
