Commercial Truck Driver Training (Paid Training) Our local CDL program consists of four weeks of classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training with an experienced and highly qualified instructor. The cost of training may be covered in full by scholarship through AZ@Work or by the City of Kingman. We will assist you through the process each step of the way and you will get paid a $21.82* hourly wage while you train. Six Months On-the-Job (Paid Training) Once you graduate from the Driving Academy and with the appropriate class of license and any applicable endorsements, you will begin on-the job paid training during your 6-month introductory period. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Performs skilled level electrical work involving installation, inspection, maintenance, alteration and repairs of electronic traffic control signals and devices, pole-mounted outdoor lighting, associated mechanical equipment and solid-state traffic control devices in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade. Maintains an on-call status to ensure the safe operation of the traffic signals, traffic control devices, and City lighting systems; performs other duties as required within the scope of the classification. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of a Crew Leader or Maintenance Supervisor. Work is reviewed for results obtained and for conformance with technical standards. May receive cross-functional guidance from Signal Tech II. May supervise temporary employees, community service workers, and DOC Inmate workers as directed, or as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor. Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by technical/trade school coursework or apprenticeship in electrical trades work. Completion of a recognized four year electrical apprenticeship program, or equivalent training, or three years of experience as a skilled electrician/Traffic Signal Technician. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on traffic signals and street lighting through visual inspections, hardware and software equipment replacement, group re-lamping, and equipment testing. Performs routine maintenance, painting of backplates, visors, signal heads, signal poles, light poles and mast arms. The Position Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors. (Underfill) positions available, in three different work sections of the division. Applicants for this recruitment may be selected for any of these sections. The Staff I Associate Engineer (Underfill) in Signs, Striping, and Traffic Control (SSTC) is responsible for developing sign plans, sign summaries, sign estimates, and special provisions. This position is also responsible for providing support, guidance, and reviews of striping and traffic control plans. The Staff I Associate Engineer (Underfill) in Signals, Lighting, and ITS (SLI) is responsible for development of signals, lighting and ITS plans, specification and estimates and coordinate signal, lighting, and ITS projects with other divisions and outside agencies. This position will also review plans, specification and estimates for compliance with departmental standards, and assist, review, modify and maintain signal, lighting, and ITS standards plans and specifications. The Staff I Associate Engineer (Underfill) in Operations and Network Analysis (ONA) is responsible for performing the operational analysis, review, and comment on traffic management plans, traffic studies, and representing the department in meetings with federal, state, and local units of government. This includes maintaining data archives for traffic studies, signal warrant studies, speed studies, and other special studies. Each of these positions will support the division's efforts with the Transportation System Management & Operations (TSMO) program and initiatives.
