A Sr. Business Process Analyst - Programmer position is available with the City of Fort Worth Police Department’s Technology Services team. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting a variety of applications, both internally developed and third-party, spanning from .NET Framework and .NET Core to JavaScript-based solutions. You'll need to translate business requirements into technical solutions, automate manual processes for our customers, and integrate multiple systems to provide comprehensive support systems within the Fort Worth Police Department. Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or a closely related field emphasizing information technology skills. Five (5) years of hands-on experience in developing Web Applications, specifically utilizing VB.Net, C#, JavaScript, among other relevant programming languages, and with Microsoft SQL Server. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience with modern web development frameworks such as Vue.js and .NET, indicating a proficiency in building and scaling high-performance web applications. Proficiency in creating and integrating APIs, signifying an ability to extend application capabilities and foster system interoperability. Intermediate to Advanced SQL skills, with a proven track record of executing complex queries, data analysis, and database management. Previous experience in supporting software solutions within law enforcement, public safety, or a similar highly-regulated sector. The Senior Business Process Analyst job responsibilities include: System Design and Architecture: Designing and architecting complex software systems to meet business requirements and to bridge gaps in existing third-party systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability. Performance Optimization: Identifying and implementing optimizations to improve the performance and efficiency of existing applications and systems. Troubleshooting and resolving issues with current applications and interfaces. Research and Development: Staying abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and trends in the software development industry. Conducting research and development activities to explore new technologies and methodologies that could benefit the organization. Collaboration with Stakeholders: Exceptional communication skills are required to gather requirements, clarify specifications, and ensure that the developed solutions align with business objectives. Your ability to listen, empathize, and negotiate will be key in fostering positive relationships and ensuring project success. Collaboration with Vendors: Communicating with vendors, as necessary, to troubleshoot issues and implement upgrades with 3rd party products. Project Management: Managing the full lifecycle of software development projects, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress against milestones and deliverables. Utilizing organizational skills to manage multiple incoming requests and projects, working with management, as needed, to prioritize the requests to best meet the needs of the organization. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyzing data and generating reports to provide insights into system performance, user behavior, or business trends. Developing data visualization tools or dashboards to present information in a clear and actionable manner. Documenting internally developed applications and tools to enhance their usability. Security and Compliance: Ensuring that software systems adhere to relevant security standards and compliance requirements, including data protection regulations and CJIS guidelines. Utilizing change management practices to ensure the least impact to the organization when implementing upgrades or resolving issues. Code Review and Quality Assurance: Reviewing code with team members to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security protocols. Conducting quality assurance testing to identify and address bugs or issues. Physical Demand: Depending on assignment, positions in the class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions it this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Working Conditions: Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class. Final candidates selected for hire in the Police Department will be subject to fingerprint/criminal history background check and polygraph examination. Applicants must not have used marijuana during the previous two (2) years, nor illegally used any controlled substances within the last five (5) years.
