Ability to: Safely drive a transit size bus in a variety of weather conditions and locations. Push, pull, lift, bend/stoop, twist, squat, kneel for wheelchair loading, and sit for prolonged periods to drive. The City is currently recruiting for a Department Specialist at the Park Avenue Community Center, a thriving facility where community programs for all ages are conducted and older adults gather. This position provides customer service, coordinates and schedules the use of the Park Avenue Community Center indoor and outdoor spaces seven days a week; maintains facility safety and regulations. Depending on the operational need of the community center, the scheduled shift will vary between 3:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday - Friday, plus weekends as needed. Summary This position is budgeted to start at $16.50 per hour. This is a PARS (Public Agency Retirement System) budgeted position and is limited to 999 hours per fiscal year. This is not a PERS eligible position. SUMMARY: The Community Services Department is looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about serving and working with seniors. The City is currently recruiting for a Department Specialist at the Park Avenue Community Center, a thriving facility where community programs for all ages are conducted and older adults gather. This position provides customer service, coordinates and schedules the use of the Park Avenue Community Center indoor and outdoor spaces seven days a week; maintains facility safety and regulations. Depending on the operational need of the community center, the scheduled shift will vary between 3:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday - Friday, plus weekends as needed. Key responsibilities : Under the direct supervision of the Community Services Supervisor, assists in the planning, coordination, and implementation of community programs and services for the older adult population of Escondido. Assists City staff, outside agencies and general public regarding all older adult programming and community functions offered at the Park Avenue Community Center. Provides a variety of technical, administrative, and programmatic work while applying all department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Assists coworkers and volunteers for routine and special programs, daily tasks, and unanticipated events. Monitors all activities occurring in the facility to assure safety and security of public and staff. Provides excellent customer service. Supports the Senior Nutrition Program as needed.
