The Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine, Community Recreation Bureau, has an immediate opening for an unclassified Site Director (Recreation Leader X-Non-Career) position. This position will work on site at McBride Park and Freeman Teen Center and will help oversee all programming, including Older Adults, Teens, After School, and Sports. Non-Career employees are allowed a maximum of 1,600 work hours available over a 12-month period, and are considered temporary, at-will employees who are not typically eligible for benefits. However, non-career employees may qualify for health coverage and sick leave accruals subject to applicable federal and state provisions. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Under direction, manages and supervises subordinate staff, volunteers, and program participants. Coordinates and supervises all program activities, including homework assistance, tutoring, academic enrichment, workshops, field trips, special events, classes, and fitness programs. Oversee participant behavior, program risk management, and safety of participants and staff. Prepares documents and written reports and maintain accurate records. Develop and maintain a cooperative relationship with school administration, faculty, support staff, and the parents of participants. Understanding of LBRA funded programs, site specific grants, and community partnerships. Perform other related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS TO FILE This position is open to all candidates who meet the following minimum qualifications: Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license. Five (5) years of experience working in recreation or a related field, including two years of experience acting as lead staff (an equivalent amount of education in a related area may substitute for up to one year). DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and/or Canva is desirable. Experience working with children and adults with a wide range of ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. The successful candidate will possess the following: Outstanding customer service and strong organizational, administrative, and program management skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
