The City of Vallejo's Fleet Division is seeking one Equipment Mechanic to help with minor and major mechanical repairs to gasoline and diesel powered automotive, heavy and light construction, and other power driven equipment as a collaborative member of the City's Public Works Department. The ideal candidate for Equipment Mechanic I will possess basic knowledge of preventative maintenance, suspension work, minor repairs of equipment and some formal training. While not required, experience with repair work on heavy equipment and possession of certificate of completion for relevant automotive services is highly desirable. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Training : Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance supplement-ed by specialized training in automotive servicing and repair. License or Certificate Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license. OC San is currently looking to fill the role of an Environmental Technician in the General Chemistry, Microbiology, and Sampling Section within the Environmental Laboratory and Ocean Monitoring Division. Under general supervision, the Environmental Technician performs a wide variety of routine duties in support of OC San's discharge permit. Specifically, the Environmental Technician will: Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Conduct wastewater stream, digester gas, potable water, ocean water and urban runoff sampling activities; perform field testing as needed. Organize and label sample bottles on a regular basis. Operate and maintain refrigerated auto-samplers. Record laboratory equipment temperatures and maintenance performed. Log and/or receive samples into a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Aliquot samples into appropriate containers and disseminate to designated laboratory work areas. Clean, maintain, repair, and calibrate sampling equipment following established procedures and maintenance schedules or when needed. Clean and maintain assigned vehicles including washing and fueling. Report needed truck and cart mechanical repairs to the fleet services. Inspect sampling facilities. Respond, troubleshoot, and correct routine and unexpected problems. Participate in both internal and external audits. Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). 6 months clerical experience in property and records management in a similar law enforcement environment required; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Preferred Education & Experience Associate's degree or vocational training and 1-3 years' of clerical experience in property and records management in a similar law enforcement environment (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis) is preferred. Licensures and Certifications Position would be expected to have licensure or professional certifications appropriate to the position.
