CAREER DESCRIPTION COMPREHENSIVE CARE NURSE PRACTITIONER II Specialty in Medical Services In addition to performance-based merit increases, this position is scheduled to receive salary range increases on the following dates: Effective June 28, 2024 - 4.25% increase Effective June 27, 2025 - 4.00% increase Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization. THE PROGRAM Correctional Health Services (CHS) is comprised of two separate entities. Adult Correctional Health Services (ACHS) provides medical, dental, nursing, infection control, health education, and pharmaceutical services at a community standard of care, and provides mental health services including 24-hour emergency triage and crisis intervention, suicide prevention, treatment beds, individual and group therapy, substance use counseling, medication assessment and discharge planning to all adult inmates in the County's five (5) correctional facilities. Juvenile Health Services (JHS) provides medical, nursing, dental, and pharmaceutical services at a community standard of care for youth who reside in the County’s four residential facilities operated by County of Orange Probation (OC Probation) and Social Services Agency (SSA) Departments. THE OPPORTUNITY Under direction of the Adult CHS Administrative Nurse Practitioner and Medical Director, the Comprehensive Care Nurse Practitioner II - Medical Services general duties are as follows: Provide chronic and urgent care to patients (including suture, incision and drainage, and toenail removal) Provide case management for chronic diseases Provide Medicated Assisted Treatment to Substance Use Disorder patients Collaborate closely with the following: Onsite physicians to assess and manage difficult cases Onsite RNs to ensure appropriate levels of care delivery Mental Health providers to ensure appropriate treatment of complex patients Order and perform diagnostic tests required by Agency policy and patient needsPerform complete physical examinations, analyze data, and determine diagnosisWeekend coverage may be requiredOther work as assigned The Comprehensive Care Nurse Practitioner II - Medical Services incumbents are required to pass a comprehensive background investigation prior to offer and acceptance of employment. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is the full journey level class within the Client Services Practitioner series. This class is distinguished from the Client Services Practitioner I by the assignment of the full range of duties. Provide highly skilled professional services in counseling, adult and child protective services, family services, community organization, social research and related areas. Perform case management duties including treatment plan monitoring, advocacy, referral and linkage to other needed services and crisis interventions; establish and maintain casework records and documents in accordance with departmental and statutory regulations and procedures; and prepare relevant correspondence and reports, including court reports and/or testimony. Perform related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Experience and Training Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. SELECTION PROCEDURE Training & Experience Rating (100%) Based upon responses to the supplemental questionnaire, the applicant’s education, training, and experience will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula.
