Job Characteristics ***SEASONAL JOB OPPORTUNITY*** MAINTENANCE LABORER The City of Concord Public Works Department is recruiting for Maintenance Laborers to work for the City's Parks Division to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the City's parks so that they are well-kept for the enjoyment of our residents. This recruitment is open and continuous, and the list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future part-time, limited term vacancies for up to one year, as vacancies arise. The Parks Division: Parks Services provides safe, aesthetically pleasing parks designed and maintained to meet the diverse needs for active and passive recreation and leisure activities. What you will be doing: Under direct supervision and independently, the Maintenance Laborer will perform litter/trash pick-up, restroom clean-up, general maintenance, leaf/debris pick-up and miscellaneous duties in park locations and other areas throughout the City. The Maintenance Laborer will also perform other duties as assigned. Part Time/Seasonal Maintenance Laborers are hired by the City's Public Works Department throughout the year, on an as-needed basis. These are part-time/temporary positions, limited to 999 hours per fiscal year, provide no benefits, and are paid at various hourly rates according to position related abilities. To obtain your DMV history report you may visit any DMV location and request a ten year driving history, or you may submit a request online at www.dmv.ca.gov . The report must be dated after April 1, 2023 and show the current status of your driver's license. Candidates must have a clean driving record for the previous seven year period in order to qualify. All qualified applications and supplemental responses will be competitively evaluated, and those candidates demonstrating the strongest qualifications for the position will be invited to interview. Successful candidates will be provided a conditional offer of employment, and must clear DOJ live scan, medical evaluation and other related components. Conviction History: If you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer. If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances. The City of Sunnyvale is seeking self-motivated, energetic, responsible individuals interested in temporary employment to assist in the maintenance of public parks and open space for up to 40 hours a week, between the months of April thru October. Essential Job Functions (May include, but are not limited to, the following): General cleaning of parks, including litter pick-up and emptying of garbage cans. Custodial care of parks buildings and restrooms. Operation of various power equipment including mowers, blowers and line-trimmers. Provide customer service for park users. Abate vandalism and hazard. Other routine maintenance assignments. WORKING CONDITIONS Position requires sitting, standing, walking, crouching, stooping, squatting, reaching, crawling, twisting and climbing in the performance of daily activities. The need to lift and carry tools, equipment and supplies weighing up to 75 pounds is also required. Incumbents work outdoors, in inclement weather, and the position may also require climbing.
