Through the operation of 11 wastewater treatment facilities, approximately 510 million gallons per day (MGD) of wastewater are treated at these facilities and 165 MGD are available for reuse. All of the water reclamation plants are strategically located throughout the County to maximize water reuse and to easily return the cleaned water to local waterways, storage reservoirs, or the Pacific Ocean. We are now recruiting for a skilled Wastewater Treatment System Mechanic at our San Jose Creek Water Reclamation Plant . The essential functions of this position are to perform more skilled preventive repair and maintenance of stationary equipment and machinery in a wastewater treatment facility. Specialized mechanical machinery used includes, but is not limited to: turbines, boilers, stationary and mobile engines, blowers, various types of pumps such as gear, vane, centrifugal, vertical turbine, centrifugal and reciprocating air compressors, various types of gear boxes, and hydraulic systems. Working hours are 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. After hour, overtime, and weekend callbacks will sometimes be required. A crane certification from the State of California is also required.
