Job Description

Department/Division: Public Works/Street Maintenance
Salary Range: $14.35 - $22.93 per hour
Work Location: Districts 1 - 2400 NE Russell Rd; District 2 - 5300 Municipal Ave; and District 3 - 4725 Coal Mine Rd

Normal Work Days/Hours: M to F 7:30 to 4pm

Responsibilities

Participates in preparing street potholes and depressions for asphalt patching. Shovels hot or cold asphalt mix into potholes and depression. Rakes, rolls and stamps asphalt. Participates in the construction and maintenance of streets and bridges. Participates in routine maintenance activities. Operates chain and hand saws in cutting up tree branches and limbs. Occasionally operates light to moderately heavy automotive and related equipment as necessary to carry through assigned installation and repair work. Participates in snow removal activities. Performs semi-skilled manual activities in the accomplishments of assigned tasks. Performs related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

REQUIRES high school graduation; OR 6 months of general labor experience. May be required to possess a valid MO Class A, B or C CDL prior to the end of the probationary period as determined by the department. May be required to possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. For Public Works, must possess a valid driver's license and attain a MO Class A CDL within the first 6 months of employment .
