Job Description

Maintenance Repair Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in two or more of the mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds and equipment. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is located within the Department of Health and Human Services, Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) - Sierra Regional Center in Sparks, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and provides a positive working environment. The mission of ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. The position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled work in two or more of the mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment. Areas of work include carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, equipment mechanical, building maintenance, and preventative maintenance. The incumbent will also perform duties including general maintenance, repair and construction includes such items as mowing and edging, tree trimming, sprinkler system maintenance and repair, replacing outlets and switches, installing new receptacles, fixing piping, replacing fixtures, troubleshooting and repair of electrical and plumbing, repairing and installing cabinets, installing wall mounts. The position will also be expected to assist in office moves, moving desks, chairs, cabinets, and various other tasks related to the above.
