TheUrban Forest Volunteer Intern assists the Urban Forest division with a variety of tasks. Interns must be able to work independently for minimum of 4 hours or up to 35 hours per week with guidance from the Urban Forest team. Schedule is flexible between, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-3:30 pm.
Interns will receive training in urban forestry and public outreach. This is an unpaid, volunteer internship. Check with your program to see if you can receive credit for this internship.
Examples of Duties
Theurban forest volunteer intern will maintain young trees in parks, greenbelts andstreetscapesthroughout the City. Duties will include planting trees, tree well weeding and mulching for the park and street trees; watering young trees; structure pruning of young trees under 15' tall (training required); staking, stake replacement, or un-staking of city trees.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, use pruning tools, have a valid California Class C driver's license.
