The Lead Teacher engages in a highly reflective teaching practice that is grounded in child observation and documentation, which informs the planning of learning experiences and the learning environment. The Lead Teacher mentors and trains other classroom staffing including Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and SF State students. Center Hours of operation are 8:00 am - 5:15 pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as duties demand. Mentoring and Training Build and maintain a cohesive classroom teaching team by guiding, training, coaching, and supervising classroom staff including Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and SF State students performing related work, including completing formal evaluations of their work. Supervises and trains student employees, interns and classroom volunteers. Some centers may require possession of a teaching permit to the program. BA degree in Child Development or related field. CA Child Development Permit at the Site Supervisor Level. Two (2) years of lead teacher experience in a Center based program. Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge and competence to develop, plan and implement a curriculum for early childhood education is required. Must be knowledgeable in pertinent state and federal regulations relating to the daily operations of an early childhood education center including licensing regulations, education regulations, child abuse reporting requirements, and public health and sanitation codes and requirements. Experience: Consistent with the state Child Development Permit Matrix, incumbents who possess a bachelor’s degree or higher must have completed the required units of supervised field experience. Performs general cleaning of all campus outdoor areas, clearing drains, sweeping, picking up bulky debris and vegetation, washing trash cans, outdoor ash trays, removing graffiti, tape, stains, posters, etc. Operates power blowers, carpet shampoo machines, power washers, tilters, compactors, extractors and fans Uses other tools and equipment as necessary to insure cleanliness of outdoor campus areas Moving appliances, furniture, equipment and arranging furniture to match floorplans/layouts Cleans catch basins and drains on the grounds Constructs and maintains trash enclosures and other fences, maintains signs, posts signage as needed etc. May assist Grounds landscape staff in grounds work and tree care operations Assists in the moving of furniture and equipment and other requested items for the University events. Clean and extract floods and overflows Waste management activities as follows: Picks up and exchanges garbage containers, tow bins, and tilt bins from assigned areas on campus manually or using the appropriate vehicles- forklifts, trucks, carts, trailers, etc. Collects, transports, and sorts various recycling materials Sweep, sanitize, and clean near trash/recycling receptacles, within carports, trash rooms, and other areas as assigned Cleans, disinfects, and maintains all material handling containers, trash equipment, and adjacent areas Inspect forklifts, pull bins, tractor, and trash compactor daily before operation, performs minor maintenance on wheels, casters, tow links, etc., and reports equipment and work areas Records activities such as transport pickup schedules, collection quantities, corrective work needed on vehicles or equipment, reports observed repair/maintenance items to Facilities Service Desk, read and understand floor plans for Event set ups, and fills out work orders and timesheets. Gives guidance to the grounds manager to develops sustainable landscaping practices in alignment with the university's commitment to environmental stewardship. Coordinates seasonal planting, irrigation, and pest control activities to ensure the campus grounds remain aesthetically pleasing and safe. Guides grounds manager to manage landscaping budget, including procurement of supplies and equipment, and to collaborate with vendors for specialized services. Supports grounds manager in implementing landscaping projects to enhance outdoor spaces for the campus community and visitors. Oversees the custodial manager and custodial services to ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all campus buildings, including offices, classrooms, and common areas. Ensures custodial manager develops cleaning schedules, protocols, and standards to maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene. Oversees the procurement and inventory management of cleaning supplies and equipment. Coordinates with building occupants and event organizers to schedule cleaning services and address specific needs. Conducts regular inspections and quality control measures to uphold custodial standards and address any deficiencies promptly. Ensures custodial manager collaborates with sustainability initiatives to implement eco-friendly cleaning practices and reduce environmental impact. REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and ten years of work experience in areas of facilities operations, trades/maintenance, custodial services, and/or landscaping services is required, master’s degree in a related field is preferred. A minimum of two years of the required experience must be in at least two of the areas listed above is required, with preference given to candidates with experience in three or more areas. Three years of the required experience must be supervisory experience in at least one area, five years of supervisory experience in more than one area is preferred. Work experience and/or supervisory experience in facilities operations within a higher education environment is desirable.
