The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Skilled Trades Worker - Building Maintenance position. This position p erforms semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, security and structural systems and elements of Department of Aviation and local agency buildings and facilities. Further, this position assists in performing carpentry, electrical, electronic, plumbing, cement and painting work. This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility List to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources. Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND two (2) years of full-time skilled trades experience performing installation, maintenance or repair work. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Mobility to work in a typical shop or related maintenance setting, including operating typical trade equipment, hand and power tools and standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle to various work sites; stamina to stand, walk and climb and to work in confined or awkward spaces for varying periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone. Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic lighting, data communication, security, control, street lighting and related systems; performs installation and repair of motors, generators, transformers, conduit, and interior wiring components. Assists in performing rough and finish carpentry, including cabinetry, shelves, dividers, paneling and partitions; assists in installing ceiling and flooring materials; installs locks, closing devices and other door and window hardware; prepares forms for cement laying and assists in the finishing of cement projects. Assists in performing painting to interior and exterior building surfaces; prepares surfaces for painting, protects surrounding surfaces and uses a variety a methods to apply paint or other covering materials such as brushes, rollers and spray equipment. Assists in maintaining and servicing a variety of test equipment and hand and power tools; uses and restocks a small inventory of frequently used supplies and hardware. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. May direct the work of less skilled assistants on a specific team assignment; ensures that proper safety precautions are followed. May independently perform maintenance and repair work of a routine or standard nature in the craft area to which assigned. Introduction This recruitment is being opened to fill only full-time vacancies assigned to the San Joaquin County Jail Complex and to establish an eligible list which may be used to fill future vacancies at the County Jail Complex. Position Description Tacoma Power is accepting applications for Utility Workers at our Cushman hydroelectric power generation facilities . This is semi-skilled labor involving a wide variety of tasks related to the maintenance, repair and operation of hydroelectric plant facilities, recreational facilities and fish hatchery operations. Some duties require a degree of mechanical aptitude and an employee must be willing and able to perform heavy manual labor under all types of weather conditions. Hydroelectric power is a clean, renewable resource that generates electricity without burning fossil fuels or polluting the air. Our hydroelectric projects generate about three billion kilowatt hours of electricity each year, enough to serve about half of our customers' power needs. In addition, Tacoma Power's projects support major fish and wildlife programs, and provide excellent parks and recreation . Positions are located at remote hydroelectric sites.
