Description The Modesto Irrigation District is currently recruiting to fill one full-time vacancy of a Senior Civil Engineer in the Civil Engineering Department within the Water Operations Division. Develop technical documents required by the local, State and Federal agencies to obtain permitting and licensing of District facilities. Prepare and make presentations to the Board of Directors, public agencies and private landowners related to District activities. Provide engineering support to other departments and divisions, as necessary. Perform and support a variety of hydraulic and hydrologic studies with other agencies; evaluate the effect of new projects on the District's system. Perform the most difficult work related to the management of engineering projects as they relate to the operations and maintenance of District facilities. Represent the District in meetings with regulatory agencies and the public regarding District projects. THE POSITION The City of Ventura's Public Works Department is accepting applications for the position of Senior Civil Engineer . The Senior Civil Engineer isa key member of the Engineering Design and Construction Division and is a vital part of the Design team. The current vacancy reports to the Design and Construction Manager and leads the Water/ Wastewater Design Section which includes support from three Assistant/Associate/Civil Engineers. The section supports a variety of capital improvement design projects for Ventura Water, the City's water and wastewater utility. Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and ability in design and/or operation of drinking water and wastewater treatment and conveyance systems and stormwater management. Substantial evidence of the capacity to provide leadership to motivate staff and the ability to maintain a sustainable funding base for OWP. Demonstrate a record of progressively increasing responsibilities in supervision, management, and leadership positions. A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated administrative experience related to engineering at progressive levels in a university or other engineering organizations. Evidence of experience in successful fiscal resource management, including developing and managing projections, budgets, and reconciliations in a university or other engineering organizations. Demonstrated ability to interpret policy, implement advance-planning techniques, and establish performance metrics. Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated skills in communication and interaction with diverse groups and populations. Effective written and oral communication skills with a diverse and wide range of audiences. That is, ability to translate complex engineering technical concepts into language that is easy to understand by a variety of audience types and levels.
