NATURE OF WORK: Performs technical field inspection and office work enforcing national, state, and local codes governing the design, construction, and renovation of buildings, structures, site infrastructures, wastewater treatment facilities, and other public works projects. Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: One year of experience in the supervision or inspection of engineering construction work* including reading and interpreting complex construction blueprints and making calculations therefrom. LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to perform job-related essential functions. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION: *Engineering construction work is defined as: horizontal construction including infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, flood control facilities, utilities, and other engineering structures. Additional Information EXAMINATION CONTENT: This examination will consist of two parts: Part I: A qualifying written test covering basic mathematics, reading comprehension, and the ability to read and interpret complex construction blueprints. Only candidates who achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the written test will proceed to Part II of the examination. THE WRITTEN TEST IS NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19. Part II: An interview weighted 100% will evaluate experience, personal fitness and general ability to perform the duties of the position. Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on each weighted part of the examination in order to be placed on the eligible register. Final results will be sent by U.S. postal mail. Test scores cannot be disclosed over the phone. ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION: The names of candidates receiving a passing grade in the examination will be placed on the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation. NO PERSON MAY COMPETE FOR THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS.
