    The Position

    Facility Supervisors/Managers plan, organize and direct buildings and grounds maintenance, repair, custodial work, security functions, and fleet maintenance and supervise skilled and semi-skilled staff.

    The Facility Supervisor 3 (FS3) is responsible for the daily oversight and implementation of routine and preventive maintenance, as well as emergency repairs, for all equipment at the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home, a 24-hour skilled nursing facility in Boulder City. The FS3 will perform or assign work involving the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical and fire devices, refrigerated commercial kitchen equipment, central heating boilers, chillers, rooftop systems, doors, drywall, painted surfaces, and other facility and grounds infrastructure. Key safety responsibilities include overseeing security functions, chairing the facility safety committee, conducting and documenting safety inspections, providing mandatory fire and safety training to staff and contractors, and ensuring all equipment is maintained or repaired in compliance with federal, state, and local safety codes. The FS3 also assists in preparing and allocating the annual Maintenance and Safety Department budgets, and supervises three Maintenance Repair Specialists as well as the Transportation & Safety Attendant Supervisor.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of building and facilities maintenance or construction experience which must have included project planning, preparation of cost estimates and budgets, scheduling and project management. Two years of the experience must have included supervision of skilled trades workers and semi-skilled workers; OR one year of experience as a Facility Supervisor II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. This position requires working nights, weekends and holidays as needed for stand-by emergency status. This position is subject to call-out or call-back. This position requires working on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional Position Criteria Pursuant to NRS and CDC guidelines, this position requires screening by the Department's Infection Control Office. Additionally, the influenza vaccination is a requirement of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be requested. Must receive a Tuberculosis (TB) skin test (PPD-Purified Protein Derivative) screening at the time of appointment and then every year after per NAC 441A.375. Must receive a physical examination provided by the Southern Nevada State Veteran Home (SNSVH) at the time of appointment.
