DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs functions to conduct professional analysis, project management, monitoring and reporting with the goal of improving Houston Public Work’s warehouse operations to include, but not limited to:
- Collecting and analyzing data to monitor performance against targets, trends, and best practices and recommend improvements in operations.
- Conducting market research for existing and new contracts, developing specifications, and contract development for warehouse materials.
- Usage analysis for warehouse materials to include monitoring inventory turn, aging, and obsolescence.
- Analyzing and monitoring warehouse items issued to end-user’s budgets identifying efficiencies and cost reduction.
- Developing and maintaining an online catalog for warehouse materials.
- Preparing, editing, and revising branch policies and procedure manuals.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS There are no major sources of discomfort, essentially a normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditioning. The individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance or a field closely related to the job.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Six (6) years of professional experience in accounting, budget analysis, finance, public administration or a field closely related to the job are required.
Substitutions: Experience
cannot be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree requirement. A Master’s degree in a field directly related to the job may substitute for two years of the above experience requirement.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: None.
PREFERENCESPreference will be given to applicants with experience in the following:
- Proficiency in SAP experience
- Proficiently in MS Excel proficiency
- High level of organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Detail Oriented
- Innovative problem-solving skills
- Has a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
