Office of the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk is recruiting for
Appraisers III who perform the most complex appraisals which require a high degree of technical expertise, independent judgment, thorough knowledge of policies, and the ability to use appropriate appraisal techniques. Appraisers III also serve in a lead capacity by providing assistance and guidance to staff regarding property appraisals and the Property Information Management System (PIMS), interpreting Revenue and Taxation Codes, Property Tax Rules and Letters to Assessor, and preparing and presenting appeals cases.

Minimum Requirements CANDIDATES MUST MEET ALL OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: CERTIFICATE Possession of a Permanent or Advanced Appraiser's Certificate issued by the
California State Board of Equalization .
EXPERIENCE Must possess three (3) years of experience as a licensed Appraiser in an Assessor's office that includes one (1) year appraising
commercial-industrial properties for tax assessment purposes.
--OR-- Five (5) years of journey-level appraisal experience as a licensed Residential or Certified Residential Appraiser with the California Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers which
must include at least one (1) year as a Certified General Appraiser appraising commercial-industrial properties .

Experience MUST have been obtained within the last ten (10) years. Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess: - Five (5) years of journey-level appraisal experience in a California County Assessor's office, that includes two (2) years appraising commercial-industrial properties for tax assessment purposes.
- An Advanced Appraiser's Certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization.
- Experience presenting appeals and defending valuations in front of an Assessment Appeals Board.
- Experience leading appraisal teams, including providing training, performance feedback, and quality assurance through regular review of work.
- Experience in providing expert witness testimony on property assessments and valuations in legal proceedings.
- Advanced knowledge of Property Information Management System (PIMS).
